I was quite bored and decided to try to solo the Dark Sun as a Cat, and I somehow did it on my first try, in just 27 turns. I’ll show you some tips for soloing the Dark Sun as a Cat
(Disclaimer: This is might be impossible on the 3DS version)
=
Tip 1: Max out all of your stats
When I say max out all of your stats, I’m saying that you need to be at level 50, use the legendary cat suit and claws (or at the very least, have the stats of them), and 4 of the 6 food stats at +99.
These include:
HP (Hit Points)
Attack
Defense
Magic
Y̶o̶u̶ ̶d̶o̶n̶’̶t̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶m̶a̶x̶ ̶o̶u̶t̶ ̶M̶a̶g̶i̶c̶ ̶s̶i̶n̶c̶e̶ ̶C̶a̶t̶s̶ ̶(̶a̶s̶ ̶w̶e̶l̶l̶ ̶a̶s̶ ̶W̶a̶r̶r̶i̶o̶r̶s̶,̶ ̶T̶h̶i̶e̶v̶e̶s̶,̶ ̶P̶o̶p̶ ̶S̶t̶a̶r̶s̶,̶ ̶C̶h̶e̶f̶s̶,̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶T̶a̶n̶k̶s̶)̶ ̶d̶o̶n̶’̶t̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶y̶ ̶m̶a̶g̶i̶c̶ ̶a̶t̶t̶a̶c̶k̶s̶.̶
Take back what I said there. Magic is still an important stat for physical attackers, as it also reduces damage taken by enemy magic attacks.
One stat you want to make sure NOT to max out is speed. Instead, it’s best to have a speed stat between the Dark Sun, and its medals (their speed stats are 105, and 120 respectively), so that way, you’re moving before the Dark Sun, but the Medals take their turn before you, which is super useful incase you get lured into a nightmare (in other words, you can turn the Medals into your own teammates)
=
Tip 2: Select “Cool” as your personality
The Cool personality is one of, if not the best personality in Miitopia, as they have a 30% chance of dodging an enemy’s regular physical attack. While they can also avoid certain status effects with “Indifference”, they sadly cannot avoid being lured into a nightmare (same story with Laid-back’s “Nah”). Also, when using a basic attack, there’s a 50% chance they can aim for the enemy’s weak point, doing 1.5x more damage.
=
Tip 3: Use the Horse
Check Rub to restore MP, Neigh to remove nightmares, and Horse Whispering doing a ton of damage. Make sure you have a level 99 relationship with the horse.
=
Tip 4: Use Sharpen Claws wisely
When soloing the Dark Sun, Sharpen Claws offers a lot of risk, for a surprisingly high reward. What makes this so risky is that getting lured into a nightmare results in you losing your attack boost. Normally, we can put the claw sharpener in the Safe Spot to avoid this, but the Safe Spot is completely useless when soloing. If you don’t get lured into a nightmare, you can use Feline Frenzy to do at least 1,400 damage to all enemies, or bring use Horse Whispering, which does over 4,500 damage if this is boosted by Sharpen Claws. That’s what makes Sharpen Claws a high risk, high reward move when soloing the Dark Sun.
=
Tip 5: Use Lick Wounds constantly
Cats don’t have a great defense stat. Even with a maxed out HP and Defense stats, the Dark Sun’s black hole attack takes away over half of your health. Lick Wounds is a self-healing move that restores more health than an elf’s Healing Melody, so even if you’re slightly above half health, it’s still best to use Lick Wounds.
=
Tip 6: Make the second phase short
When you enter phase 2 (which starts when the Dark Sun is a 30% health (3,600/12,000 HO) or less, he starts to attack in a pattern, which consists of four turns, with two actions each, as follows:
Big Bang - Attack
Attack - Black Hole
Attack - Attack
Asteroids - Attack
During this phase, you have two turns to kill the Dark Sun before he uses asteroids, as those will kill you instantly (even at full health, and a shield nullifying one hit), so you better hope to God that you get Horse Whispering at least once.
