Experiment #484: 400-Watt Metal Halde Black Light
(Rated G) Microwaving an evil light bulb? Seriously? Yes, seriously. The title is a bit sensationalist, I'll admit, but you'll soon see why I called this black light an "evil light bulb". The weird light that this thing casts when the top cracks and the metal rod arcs against the side is one of the coolest things I've ever seen a light bulb do. This bulb at first lit up like a very bright black light then got brighter and brighter as it cast weird blue-green light. I should have done this in a microwave that didn't have a functional light, but I still got a good show, and since it was a light bulb I could do it after sunset. This is also a "purist" episode, a format that's becoming increasingly rare on my show since a lot of people want to see microwaving videos that involve banter, as the "shut up and skip to the microwaving" crowd has largely become silent as they see what a bore my purist videos can be. But I kind of enjoy making these for various reasons (one is that I don't have to think of what to say). The evil light bulb was kind of meant as an "April Fools"-themed episode but I thought I'd upload it a bit early so it can grab quite a bit more views over the weekend than it would if I waited until Saturday to upload it. This is one of the best light bulb microwaving experiments that I've done for my show. Microwave Me is currently in its 18th season of production and has now been running on YouTube for over four years, dating back to the old school microwave show period, while being filmed in crystal clear 1080p for the best quality and as always stars Captain Microwave stars as the host and producer, who for this episode uses a 1985 Montgomery Ward microwave.
