Microsoft's Bid to acquire Activisdion Blizzard in an effort to pad out the catalogue of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and the Library of Microsoft First Party Exclusive studios for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (as well as PC Gamepass) is all but closed at this point. Following the defeat of the FTC in Federal Court and the FTC Chairwoman Lisa Khan's Failed attempt at an appeal, there is not really anything holding this deal back from closing and Activision Blizzard King shareholders from receiving $95/share or $69 Billion total. This comes after an over year long legal struggle between Microsoft and regulators to approve the acquisition where the main resistance to the deal came from US & UK regulators as well as Sony's head of PlayStation, Jim Ryan. Jim Ryan in particular was vehemently opposed to the deal citing that allowing such a deal to close would basically destroy the PS5 and the PlayStation platform as a whole as Microsoft would pull Call of Duty from PS5 & PS6 making the game exclusive to Xbox. This claim directly contradicts Microsoft's proposed 10 year deal offered to Sony, Nintendo, and other gaming platforms to guarantee the release of Call of Duty games across those platforms for a minimum of 10 years. At every stage Sony denied signing this deal. Well after the ruling in US court and the FTC's defeat, Sony has come back to the negotiation table to sign the original 10 year deal with slightly worse terms. In addition the UK's CMA has come back to the table after previously blocking the deal after threats of Microsoft to pull Activision out of the UK. Now Microsoft is approaching a deal with the CMA to finalize the deal and soon Activision Blizzard will officially be a part of Xbox Game Studios.
