March 10, 2007 Michael greeted approximately 3,000 U.S. forces personnel and their family members at Camp Zama, a U.S. army base in Tokyo. He shook hands with its members, then gave a speech in recognition of their services in the name of freedom. “It’s an honour and a privilege to be here,” Michael told the audience. “You people are among the most special in the world because you have chosen a life of service. Because of you here today and others who have given their lives, we can enjoy our freedom at home. I thank you from the bottom of my heart. And I love you.” Michael also attended a ceremony at the respective camp in honour of a member being promoted at the time.
