Your Man's Bland Ballad is a piece that drew inspiration from several aspects to do with the musicality of speech and the human voice. The inescapable uniqueness of different people's accents and articulations and how that relates to the way people speak uniquely with their instruments. It also draws on the inherent musicality of certain words and how they fit together. The title is taken from an MF DOOM lyric, he explores the music of the spoken word in such a direct and virtuosic way that at times it feels the musicality of the words transcend their meaning.
