South African swimmer Michael Houlie, has had some memorable times in the swimming pool in the past weeks. He won three medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, including silver in the 50 m breastroke, his preferred discipline, and followed that up with another silver at the Pan Pacific Championships also in the 50m in California. He is South Africa’s first and only swimmer of colour to win a Youth Olympic Gold Medal in 2018 and as an Olympic hopeful for Los Angeles 2028.
