While managing his packed schedule as a freelance sports cameraman, Michael began experiencing symptoms of atrial fibrillation (a-fib), a common type of irregular heart rhythm. He found himself unable to complete routine activities due to his racing heartbeat and shortness of breath.
After his diagnosis and a number of treatment attempts, Michael eventually found Phillip Cuculich, MD, Washington University cardiac electrophysiologist at Barnes-Jewish Hospital. To address Michael’s a-fib, Dr. Cuculich utilized cardiac mapping, a technology first developed by Washington University biomedical engineering professor, Dr. Yoram Rudy.
