A powerful reflection on freedom, unity, and the American spirit.
On March 8, 2026, MISO returns to the Knight Concert Hall with American Promise — a program exploring the ideals that shape the American journey: freedom, unity, aspiration, and the courage to imagine a shared future.
Under Maestro Eduardo Marturet, this concert arrives as the nation approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, uniting contemporary voices with a timeless symphonic masterpiece in one compelling narrative.
The evening opens with Karen LeFrak’s American Promise (South Florida premiere), a musical reflection on the values that continue to define the nation’s identity.
That vision expands with the world premiere of An American in Miami by Campos Salas, a 2026 MISO commission. Inspired by Miami’s multicultural pulse, the work portrays the city as a living crossroads where traditions, cultures, and stories merge into a uniquely American sound shaped by migration, rhythm, and reinvention.
Marturet’s own composition, Unity and Glory — the official Concacaf Anthem — adds a ceremonial and contemporary dimension, celebrating collective identity and shared purpose across borders and cultures.
The program culminates with Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World”, one of the most iconic works ever written about the American experience — a testament to transformation, longing, and hope.
