Due to possible ping differences, it's usually better to outright kill the intruder from a distance unless you neutralize him fairly close. You can see me failing to fulton extract the intruder in this video. An alternative is to use the classic Hand of Jefuty pull right before the person gets on his feet but I honestly didn't get accustomed enough to use it well yet.
Sleep grenades and stun grenades, and just grenades in general, are an excellent asset to use in both FOB offense and defense. Attacker in this video is seen slowly losing patience and focus after being naded by myself a few times.

An actual serious infiltration attempt on stealth sneak and no kills, R&D platform.
Killing guards, destroying security devices, fulton extracting anything, and of course, being completely spotted then entering combat alert will generate a player notification to both the owner of the facility and his supporters. If they are online in the game they can jump in to defend together with security guards.
Avoiding all of these while reaching the goal core is sometimes called ghosting, though perfect stealth is also acceptable. Successfully doing this will deny the availability of direct retaliatory strikes from the owner due to that infiltration attempt. You still can prevent the retaliatory wormhole path from opening even if youve been killing or destroying stuff by reaching the core fast enough but theres no guarantee that the owner and his friends are offline.
Here I wanted to rescue my kidnapped staff from him. It was pretty clear that he was baiting me to jump in to his base as I did catch him deliberately getting himself killed easily, making it look as if itll be an easy retaliatory attack.
It wasnt a 100% smooth run as I did make mistakes. I was less careful early on. Still room for improvement on my part but Im glad that I rescued all of my taken staff back and also managed to snag a couple good rank staff of his.")
