Union Station was built in 1939, long before accessibility was part of the national conversation. While the station is historic and beloved, it presents challenges for people living with disabilities. That’s why Metro partnered with CBOs and riders with disabilities to do a series of Accessibility Walk/Roll Audits in Spring 2025—a community-centered approach to understanding accessibility barriers directly from our riders who experience them every day. Our riders' input is directly shaping the improvements, with $20 million already earmarked to fund many of them.
