Lifestyle has a tremendous effect on longevity. In Dr. Kenneth Cooper's Message of the Day, he addresses an article in the May 2018 issue of Circulation based on research from the Harvard School of Public Health that predicts that people who live a healthy lifestyle will live 10 years longer than the national average to approximately 87.6 years for men and 93.1 years for women. These are the virtually the same results that The Cooper Institute predicted back in 2003-2004 (87.5 years for men and 90.5 years for women) after studying almost 96,000 people from 1970 - 2003. The point? Nearly 76% of diseases we have are the result of our lifestyle. Healthy lifestyle choices can mean a longer life expectancy.
