Seven Questions in Seven Minutes: How do MEP engineers work across retrofit projects and why is this so vital? ‘Tackling the existing building stock is the key part of decarbonising the built environment’ Find out more in the video below...

Building Services Engineering (MEP), is a key part of shaping buildings. As Kenichi Hamada, Associate Director, Buro Happold puts it: “MEP engineering deals with things we cannot easily see; that’s air, that’s energy and electricity, and water.

“MEP engineering, when it works, it works so well that no-one notices.”

As part of our ‘Revolution in Retrofit’ series, Kenichi explores the important role MEP engineering plays.

From overcoming existing constraints through computational design, to energy improvements and providing optimal systems for refurbished buildings whilst keeping their character, MEP engineering is crucial to extending the life of buildings.
