This was my entry for this years Souls Team Iron Chef 16, which if you dont know, is an AMV speed contest where we have 72 hours to edit a full 2min AMV. I decided to participate in the Drama/Romance category this year. I had not edited for this category in a long time, so it was fun to revisit. Anyway, for a 3 day edit, Im pretty happy with how it came out. I hope you guys enjoy it as well!
I have another much bigger AMV project currently in the works as well ;) looking forward to finishing that, hopefully this year.

Just a little FF7 edit. Believe it or not, I started this project back in 2020, after playing the first FF7 remake. Glad I sat on this for awhile, so that I had more content to work with. Also, if were sharing right now (and because I just cant help myself lol).... I did not like this game. I never played the original PS1 game, but I grew up loving Advent Children, Crisis Core, and just reading the lore of FF7 online. So Im not sure why this game, especially Rebirth, just felt like a complete utter waste of time. I think I just have multiverse fatigue. *sighs* Well at least there were some decent editing clips. Bringing me back to my roots. My very first uploads to YT were using FF7. If youre curious, and dying for a cringe, you can watch some here:

I am SO happy this project is finally finished! I have been dying to share it with you guys. I had started working on this already in September 2019. Hard to believe I’d been working on this AMV for almost a year now…. 😅 but I took a lot of breaks in between hahaha.
So I’ve been obsessed with this whole “retrowave comeback trend for awhile now, and I knew I’d eventually want to do a full AMV centered around this theme, but wasn’t quite sure yet how to go about it, and didn’t have a solid idea of what I wanted to do. What ultimately inspired me to start on this video was the work of ReyNeroKun, I think I watched an MEP track that he had done, and I was like YES, this is what I want to do, but on a larger scale. I started trying to watch more like cyberpunk content and movies (like Blade Runner, Ghost in the Shell), to get more ideas visually of how I wanted the world of my AMV to look. And A LOT of browsing Pinterest! That’s like my go-to these days for coming up with mood boards, and visuals. Oh and that Panini music video by Lil Naz, huge inspo for this. So yeah, those inspired the overall setting/theme of this AMV.
As far as the context and story, a lot of it was pulled based on what was provided through the scenes of the original anime. I loved how subtly queer it was, without it being an in-your-face, overly sexualized Yuri or whatever, as so often is the case in anime. And I appreciated the complexity of the relationship (or so was my interpretation from the scenes - I did not watch this anime in full). Based on my interpretation, the relationship/sexuality between these two girls is not clearly defined. The lines are blurred, as is sometimes the case in real life, and that is fine. And I have found this to be true in my own life as well, and have only recently been able to acknowledge that with myself. So I really enjoyed exploring the relationship between these two characters, and defining a relationship between them that’s not necessarily lovers, but not “just friends either. It’s more complex, and that’s what I wanted to portray.
An underlying theme, that plays as the subtext throughout the entire video, is an unavoidable natural disaster, which I feel kinda relates to the mindset we are in right now, although not on an “end-of-the-world” scale. (However, lately it sometimes feels like the end of the world…) When I started this AMV, there was no “coronavirus yet hahaha, so I had no idea how this context was going to fit into today’s world. I feel bad to release something so gloomy and sad. With everything going on, I wish I could have created something more uplifting, because I feel we could use a bit more joy right now.
If nothing else, I hope this can serve as entertainment, and a 3-minute distraction from our currently unpredictable lives right now. I am wishing everyone well-being and safety. I know things look like sh*t right now, but I’m SURE things will turn around. Try to keep positive! And wherever you are in life right now, is exactly where you need to be (even if that place is in your bed looking at your phone right now hahahaha). Find comfort in doing whatever you are mentally capable of right now. And don’t let anyone, anything convince you otherwise. ❤️- Jazzy

Does this count as my first psych category AMV? This year marks the 15th anniversary of my YT channel. Geez that makes me feel old. And I cant believe Im still uploading videos here. Feels so silly to say, but making videos here has been the most impactful activity of my life. Its where I discovered my love for editing, in the most addictive, unhealthy, obsessive way imaginable haha. Its been my creative outlet for so long, and (whether this is insanely lame or not) its part of my most cherished memory of being alive. Every video Ive made here marks a moment in my life, and takes me back to wherever I was at the time, slaving away on another edit. I cant even express how deeply passionate Ive been about making videos here. Its meant literally everything to me. Fortunately Im in a place now where I can maintain a healthy balance, and be open to finding new passions as well. I dont know what they are yet, but I know Im ready to try.
Ive wanted to edit this song for almost 10 years now. Finally the stars aligned and I had an anime to fit my ideas. Once again, I wanted to explore some darker themes, but with a layer of mystery throughout. I love allowing everyones self-interpretation of my works, so I wont go into a detailed storyline for this video. I hope it makes you feel something - thats always been my goal.

So this is my submission for Big Contest 2013. Ive been working on this AMV for almost a year now. I was really excited to finally be finished with it and even more excited to share it now. I put a lot of work into this. Im sure there are a few things I could have done better, but Im overall happy with the final product. I did the best I could for my limited technical knowledge.
Ive had this idea for an AMV for quite awhile now. I knew what I wanted to do, but I just wasnt exactly sure how to approach it and where to start. Also I didnt feel my skills were good enough to create something like this. So years later I finally got inspiration to just get started and well, its done haha At first, I reeeeally didnt want this to be a crossover(because Im like so sick of crossovers right now) but I needed someone to play the girl character and not just let it be a random voice. So yeah... crossover xP
Special thanks to Overture, Achiita, and lokkiclu for beta testing this for me. You guys gave me some really helpful tips. And thanks to FutureAmvs for just supporting me as Ive been working on this AMV xD
