Here is a very recent appearance for DePue; The entire concerto from the seldom-heard "Concerto in Dm- Opus 1", by Felix Mendelssohn, his very first, written at age 12-13 years.

Alex DePue joins The Umpqua Chamber Orchestra at Centerstage Theater in Roseburg, Oregon, led by maestro Dr. Jason Heald.

DePue's take on the brief cadenza, as it turns out, is exactly the tongue-in-cheek humor Mendelssohn sought for that particular moment of the work, having also staggered the violin's what-should-have-been-predictable - entrance... until a full measure later. The soloist seems to laugh with that inclination while noting, just perhaps, that our pre-teen composer was just a bit ornery as he wrote.
