. Want to memorize Amendments 11–20 to the U.S. Constitution fast? In this video, I show you exactly how to use the Mind Palace technique to lock them into long-term memory.
Most people try to memorize by repetition. That doesn’t work.
Instead, we turn each amendment into a visual, exaggerated image and place it along a familiar route in your mind.
Here’s the simple strategy:
STEP 1: Choose Your Palace
Pick a location you know extremely well — your house, office, gym, church, or even your childhood home. You’ll need 10 clear stopping points (front door, couch, kitchen sink, etc.).
STEP 2: Turn Each Amendment Into a Crazy Visual
The brain remembers pictures, not words. So we create bold, emotional, exaggerated images for each amendment.
Example breakdown:
Amendment 11 – Suits Against States
Picture two giant number 1’s blocking someone from suing a huge state-shaped monster.
Amendment 12 – Electoral College Reform
Imagine a ballot box exploding into 12 giant electric bolts.
Amendment 13 – Abolished Slavery
See chains snapping into 13 glowing pieces.
Amendment 14 – Citizenship & Equal Protection
Picture a giant shield with the number 14 protecting people equally.
Amendment 15 – Voting Rights (Race)
Imagine a ballot with 15 bright checkmarks stamped across it.
Amendment 16 – Income Tax
See the IRS handing you a giant 16-shaped dollar bill.
Amendment 17 – Direct Election of Senators
Picture 17 senators being directly lowered by helicopter into office.
Amendment 18 – Prohibition
Imagine 18 smashed bottles labeled “NO ALCOHOL.”
Amendment 19 – Women’s Right to Vote
See 19 women marching with giant voting signs.
Amendment 20 – Presidential Terms & Inauguration Dates
Picture a massive calendar flipping to January 20 with fireworks.
STEP 3: Place Each Image in Your Palace
Walk mentally through your palace and “see” each amendment image in order. Make it big. Make it weird. Make it emotional.
STEP 4: Rehearse the Walk
Close your eyes and walk through your palace. If you can see the image clearly, you’ll recall the amendment instantly.
Why This Works
The Mind Palace uses spatial memory — one of the strongest memory systems in the brain. You’re not memorizing words. You’re remembering locations and images.
