Melting steel nails with electricity! Today we used our metal melter to melt some steel nails by introducing over 800 amps of electricity to them. The steel is less conductive than the copper wires which is what causes the nails to turn red hot and ultimately melt into two pieces. These nails actually got to the point where it looked like they were boiling!
