The amazing @melaniefayemusic stopped by for a closeup look at her virtuoso fusion of fingerstyle and pickless flatpicking. In this clip she's laying down the lead to her song "It's A Moot Point", over the top of the rhythm part we had recorded a moment earlier. If you haven't heard the song, I'd advise checking it out. But be warned! Melanie has a gift for writing ultra-tasty melodies that cannot be evicted from your brain. So turn back now, lest you want to walk around humming this for the next week. (Ask me how I know.) Technically, what's going on in her playing is very cool. There is... no pick! But her technique in "flatpicking mode" is otherwise exactly what you'd see from a double escape wrist player, just with the substition of the index nail for the pick. Some things are universal. Travel schedules conspired to allow just enough time in this meeting to record the track, so we'll be planning a round two with more time for a complete interview. Stay tuned!
