Had a really fun conversation with the amazing James Seliga ( instagram.com/whoamando ) over the weekend. If you've ever been shopping on the intertubes for mandolins you can't afford, then you've probably run across his demos for The Mandolin Store ( @themandostore ), spinning endlessly tasty yarns on everything from Gibson and Weber F-styles to octave mandolins and guitars. It's a sign of the times when some of the coolest short-form writing you'll hear comes from A-list players like James and the awesome Carl Miner doing instrument demos. Say what you will about the music industry and how it has changed, but from the perspective of someone who was never going to be a part of it in any traditional form, the fact that there are now so many unconventional entry points feels right at home. Head on over to the Mandolin Store page to check out a whole host of James' awesome etude-style writing, and stay tuned for his interview at Cracking the Code.
