Reddit users criticized Meghan Markle after a video promoting her As Ever blackberry fruit spread drew comparisons to an earlier Martha Stewart cake recipe.

In Markle’s clip, the blackberry spread is mixed into yellow cake batter and paired with generous frosting, presented as a secret ingredient for blackberry buttercream frosting. Stewart previously showcased a three-layer summer berry cake using Swiss buttercream with 1 1/2 cups of black raspberry jam.

Commenters called the similarity “bald-faced thievery” and contrasted presentation, noting Stewart’s detailed recipe versus Markle’s general guidance.

The exchange follows renewed attention to a separate anecdote in which Stewart said Markle discussed a royal visit at a dinner party; Markle’s camp reportedly described Stewart as “confused” about the As Ever situation.
