Celebrating over 80 years of nursing excellence, Dillard University has the first accredited baccalaureate nursing program in the state of Louisiana. In 2023, Dillard University began offering a Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) through the College of Nursing.
On May 9, our next cohort of nursing graduates participated in the pinning ceremony. Dillard's Pinning Ceremony has its origin in the Dillard University Capping Ceremony that began in 1944 with Dillard's first cohort of baccalaureate nursing students under the leadership of Ms. Rita Miller. In 1992, under the leadership of Dr. Ethel Amos, the Capping Ceremony became the Pinning Ceremony for graduate baccalaureate nurses. This is the 32 year the Pinning Ceremony has been held.
