Artist Hugh Hayden discusses the nostalgic and familiar feelings evoked by the various wood grains in “Living Room: Orlean, Virginia.” Hayden collaborated with Davóne Tines and Zack Winokur on the installation, creating the rocking plinth on which the replica of Tines’s grandparents’ living room sits.

Experience this installation as part of “Making Home—Smithsonian Design Triennial," now through August 2025 at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.
