In the second floor galleries of “Making Home—Smithsonian Design Triennial," visitors will encounter Curry J. Hackett (@curryhackett) and Wayside Studio’s “So That You All Won’t Forget: Speculations on a Black Home in Rural Virginia", an immersive space punctuated by Hackett’s collection of what he calls “speculative objects,” set amid rustling leaves and collaged video channels. Here, Hackett expands on the inspiration behind the installation, reflects on his and others’ relationship to the South, and shares the familial touch that brought his work together.
