MedStar Washington Hospital Center is the recipient of the 2022 ANCC Pathway Award® to develop WellBot, a robotic wellness program designed to support staff well-being. The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) presented Chief Nursing Officer Tonya Washington and Nursing Professional Practice Program Specialist Sasha McNeely Robertson with the award at the ANCC’s annual Magnet® and Pathway to Excellence® conferences recently in Philadelphia where MedStar Washington also received re-designation as a Pathway to Excellence® hospital.
The award, sponsored by Oracle Cerner, comes with a $50,000 prize to develop the WellBot. As part of the frontline care team, WellBot performs wellness rounds focused on caregiver recognition, just-in-time wellness checks, and access to a wellness resource hub. WellBot’s holistic approach goes beyond traditional hospital robots that perform efficiency-related tasks to identify, address, and support the wellness needs of the entire healthcare team.
