In this video, I explain the three structures commonly confused in the posterior aspect of the anterior abdominal wall: the median umbilical ligament, the medial umbilical ligament, and the lateral umbilical folds. I provide a clear visual demonstration of these structures and their relationship to the umbilicus. I also discuss the embryological origins of each structure, with the median umbilical ligament being a remnant of the urachus and the medial umbilical ligament being a remnant of the obliterated umbilical artery.
