Meet HexSense, a sensor node designed to be deployed ballistically—in other words, shot out of a cannon—and automatically right itself no matter how it lands. With the support of industry collaborator Castrol, researchers with the Media Lab’s Space Exploration Initiative tested HexSense in the rugged, volcanic landscape of Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands.
