In this video, Iâm pottying my newborn and showing you what EC can look like right from the beginning.
He needs to go, we offer the potty, and yepâŠout comes the meconium!
And honestly? I LOVE EC. That meconium would have been a whole lot harder to wipe off his little butt if it had ended up smashed inside a diaper.
But the really important thing to notice here is his SIGNALS.
That face. That little scream. The pushing. The pauses.
Newborn babies communicate with us all the time, including when they need to eliminate. When you start paying attention from the beginning, you can begin learning your babyâs signals and offering the potty when it makes sense.
You do NOT have to wait until your baby is a toddler.
You donât have to wait for some magical age of âreadiness.â
And you definitely donât have to be perfect or catch everything.
This is just communication.
Watch your baby. Learn their signals. Offer the potty.
And start from birth if you can. đ
