Modern Classic | "Mechanical feel" keyboards - worth buying? @ModernClassic | Uploaded May 2017 | Updated October 2024, 25 minutes ago.
I needed a cheap, compact USB keyboard for some specialized uses, but I also wanted it to be mechanical. So I set out to test whether I could get a decent, full size mechanical keyboard in the $30 range. I included a "mechanical feel" keyboard to see if it would do the job before testing the cheapest full-size authentically mechanical keyboard I could find, a "Motospeed" that I bought through Amazon for $30.49. It was not on sale, that was the regular advertised price.

The seller on Amazon has now raised the price on these (to $50), but if you are still interested, here's a link: amzn.to/2p9fvqZ

PLEASE NOTE: At the time of this writing in 2018, I've seen some reliable info that the Outemu switches in this keyboard have noticeably downgraded in quality since I posted this video last year. So take that as a caveat. You may not like the 2018 version of this switch as well as I like my older ones.

If you do want to try the membrane "mechanical feel" keyboard I show in the video, it's this and it's definitely cheap: amzn.to/2pIQJRz

There are still many other options in the $30-$40 price range, so I'd appreciate it if you still use one of those links if you'd like to search through Amazon's mechanical keyboard category. That's how I found these keyboards, and I'll get a small cut if you enter Amazon through those links.
