$Why you cant mindset your way out of PTSD Recently I had to file a police report on my parents for domestic violence. Even with the history of emotional abuse and manipulation I can’t believe I’m saying these words. Psychologically, the minds of victims of abuse protect us in funny ways. Our minds have a hard time believing this reality can be harmful… so it convinces us that the fault must lie within us, so that we can believe our existence is safe. This gives us some measure of agency and lets us believe we have at least a modicum of control. My reality is shook. My psyche is fractured and is rebuilding a framework of what reality is - who my parents are and what they are capable of. It feels like these two people murdered who my mind thought were my parents and I’m grieving their loss. Loving people dont act this way. My family is handling the aftermath incredibly well, yet we are also not okay. #PTSDWarrior #Trauma #Abuse #ParentalAbuse #DomesticViolenceAwareness #SendHelp #SendCookies$
