MCSO K-9 SNIFFS OUT OCCUPIED BURGLARY SUSPECT
In the early morning hours of March 16, 2019, MCSO K-9 Deputy Alan Lee and K-9 “Zeus” responded to the 3500th block of SW 38th Terrace to assist the Ocala Police Department in searching for a suspect who had just committed an occupied burglary of an apartment at that location. K-9 Zeus began tracking the suspect, which led them to the parking lot of the Residence Inn located off of 38th Avenue. K-9 Zeus then tracked to a car in the parking lot that had two people inside of it. The subjects in car claimed to be “sleeping.” During the investigation, probable cause was established to search the vehicle, and the victim’s stolen items were located inside. The suspect, Akyl Howard (DOB: 07/06/1995) was arrested by OPD and was charged with Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling and Grand Theft. That was an INCREDIBLE track by K-9 Zeus and K-9 Deputy Lee…thank you both for your service to the citizens of Marion County!
