MCSO'S AIR ONE, K-9 ASSIST OPD IN PURSUIT OF GRAND THEFT AUTO, KIDNAPPING SUSPECT
Last night, the Ocala Police Department worked a call for service at the CVS on SW 27th Avenue in reference to a man who had just stolen a truck that had a 6-year old sleeping in the back seat. The suspect, Drhyromi Q’Jave Maxwell (DOB: 12/28/1994), abandoned the 6-year old near the Krystal's on State Road 200 but still had the truck in his possession. OPD officers recovered the child, who was safe, and they began searching for the stolen vehicle. Later on in the evening, OPD located the truck in the area of MLK Blvd., and began a pursuit. MCSO joined in to assist and the pursuit eventually went into MCSO's jurisdiction. Maxwell eventually exited the truck and fled on foot at NE 170th Avenue and Highway 314. Air-One was able to direct units to Maxwell's location, and he failed to heed K-9 apprehension warnings from MCSO K-9 Deputy Matthew Bowers. Subsequently, K-9 OTOW apprehended Maxwell who is now being charged with multiple felonies.
This is such a great example about how the OPD and MCSO work together to get the job done!! Excellent police work done by everyone involved...it is always a pleasure to assist our brothers and sisters in blue!
