Wither on previous occasions has blown up at Leif, frustrated that Leif hides behind a child's obliviousness and delusion, refusing to see the bad in people and the world, and as a result, is too trusting and often gets them hurt by others. Like Alan Orval cough

But at the back of her mind Wither knows there's no real use trying to force her thoughts on Leif. Leif is the child part of their mind. She is a child, and uses that innocence to protect and hide from the pain in reality. While Wither is the cynical realist who has to face the reality of it all, to the point of paranoia and distrust of everyone around her. They both deal with life differently. And that's what makes them exist as individuals. If they were the same, why would there be two of them?

But a child is also susceptible to things being planted into their subconscious. And Leif forces herself to be more cynical because she believes her getting them into trouble with her naivety is what keeps wither so afraid and what makes her cry. She starts trying to slip into Wither's mindset which Wither tries to stop, since that would LITERALLY kill Leif, since she would have lost her core belief that makes her an individual in this mind. Once she loses who she is, she has no reason to exist anymore.
