In this tutorial, we learn how to use a 3D fluid container to generate dust when a military helicopter is landing on the ground. We start by analyzing the reference and think about the temperature, dust patterns, and force fields using real-life examples. Then we get things started in Maya using a simple 3D fluid container. We then add a force field to direct the density and use the emitter rate to control the amount of emission and its timing. I’ll be showing two different renders using Maya Hardware 2.0 and Arnold so you get a better understanding of the type of looks you can achieve in Autodesk Maya. Hope you find this tutorial useful and let me know how I did in the comments section.
