Max Mustard is Toast Interactive's 3D platformer on Meta Quest 3, taking cues from Super Mario 64 and Astro Bot's Rescue Mission. The jumping, bouncing, and jet-boot gliding all feel right from the first stage, and the level design never stops serving new obstacles. We look at where the first-person carnival sections feel bolted on, why the character's slightly vacant animation holds it back from greatness, and why this still scratches the Platformer itch better than anything else on Quest.
