In this video we view the means of fabricating highly aligned freestanding carbon nanotube membranes. Using newly discovered solid-state extrusion, arrays of many thousands of carbon nanotubes, each some 1,000 times smaller than the width of a human hair, are aligned simultaneously. No adhesive is required, nor is a supporting substrate making a number of nano-scale electronic and photonic applications viable in the future.
