Marvel’s Best “Ongoing” Comic Series Ends + 9 Must-Reads! @Wes_From_TC

Spider-Man & Wolverine looked like one of Marvel’s rare modern wins — two A-list heroes, a killer artist, and a clear premise with real momentum. And then it quietly ends at issue #10. That’s not “Spider-Man can’t sell.” That’s not “Wolverine can’t sell.” That’s Marvel’s ongoing problem — and why readers don’t believe any new series is built to last.

This should’ve been a pillar book: marquee characters, strong visual identity, and action that felt significant every issue. But quality and star power don’t matter when the audience expects the rug-pull. After years of relaunches and short “ongoings” that function like minis, readers assume there’s an expiration date. When fans expect ten issues, they wait. When they wait, sales stall. When sales stall, Marvel cancels — and the cycle continues.

Then it’s time for the week’s must-read comics:
Hyde Street #10 — Ghost Machine
Writer: Geoff Johns
Artist: Francis Portela
A major return issue after the hiatus with big character backstory reveals and a bigger Hyde Street mystery taking shape.

TMNT: Saturday Morning Adventures #34 — IDW
Writer: Erik Burnham
Artist: Dan Schoening
A pitch-perfect 80s cartoon-style adventure with big action, villain chaos, and consistent “Saturday Morning” fun.

Conan the Barbarian #29 — Titan Comics
Writer: Jim Zub
Artist: Doug Braithwaite
A bold villain origin issue that sets up the next major threat and expands the world without relying on Conan to carry every scene.

Punisher #1 — Marvel Comics
Writer: Ben Percy
Artist: José Luis Suárez
Frank Castle is back on the streets with brutal energy, nasty crime-family tension, and some of the strongest interior art Marvel’s had in a while.

Infernal Hulk #4 — Marvel Comics
Writer: Phillip Kennedy Johnson
Artist: Nick Klein
Big answers about where Hulk is and what’s happening, with Nick Klein putting on a clinic through visual storytelling.

Hulk Smash Everything #3 — Marvel Comics
Writer: Ryan North
Artist: Vincenzo Carratù
The series finally leans all the way into the premise with bigger, crazier smashing and a much stronger payoff.

Green Lantern #32 — DC Comics
Writer: Jeremy Adams
Artist: Xermánico
A major relationship turn and a big emotional pivot as the series sets up the next era.

Superman #35 — DC Comics
Writer: Joshua Williamson
Artist: Eddy Barrows
A standout DC K.O. tie-in with huge moments, sharp escalation, and dynamic art that sells every beat.

The Bat-Man: Second Knight #3 — DC Comics
Writer: Dan Jurgens
Artist: Mike Perkins
A gorgeous period Batman/Superman clash with real atmosphere, strong payoffs, and a satisfying close.
