Input shaping allows faster 3D printing speed and acceleration, without a loss in quality. Available in most other firmwares, input shaping is now available in Marlin. In this video guide, we cover the setup and calibration process step by step on an Ender 3.
I’m really pleased with these results. Any time you can speed up 3D printing without losing quality, it’s a huge win. I look forward to playing with the new parameters when they are added in the future.

![Next gen 3D printers are here, but do they bring fresh problems?
The race to the bottom might be coming to an end! Finally, more manufacturers are aiming to release fully developed 3D printers that ‘just work’. In this video, we explore the current 3D printer market and why consumers have been so frustrated, what the new generation machines get right, and what it means for a range of stakeholders going forward.

I own a five tool Prusa XL, which is now working pretty well. For many people though, this 3D printer is just too expensive. In this series, we are attempting to take a StealthChanger toolchanger mod intended for the Voron 2.4, and adapt it to the Sovol SV08 Voron clone. In this episode, we design, print and assemble a modular filament spool rack.
This printer and the additional toolheads were received free of charge from Sovol for the purposes of making this series. Everything else I’ve paid for myself.

![How to design print in place foldable models like FAB365 - 3D design for 3D printing
I love print in place designs! In my opinion, those from FAB365 are the most captivating, so I wanted to challenge myself to produce a moveable tank design that not only printed in place, but folded and assembled just like FAB365 models. In this video, I take you through my design process and provide tips for designing in two different sets of positions. We also cover problem solving techniques that you can employ to avoid disaster.

Note that I’ve purposely only included STEP files for my parts, as the tank base I’m adding to is a paid model and I wish to respect the work of the original author. I am not sharing the Onshape link, and have obscured the filename and URL.
If it seems like I’m going too fast on the CAD, it’s because each of these concepts has been covered in detail in an earlier video. The playlist is linked below. This video is about applying those concepts to a foldable print in place design.

![Is it time for 3D printers to abandon bed springs?
For a long time 3D printers relied on bed springs in each corner to level the bed and ensure a good first layer. However, most modern designs do away with them entirely. So can we safely remove them and rigidly mount the bed? In this video, I examine a range of 3D printers with and without springs to try and find an answer. I then do a before and after comparison on the Ender 3 with print tests.
