Cody Rakes of Loretto Motherhouse Farms discusses ways to protect soil and water resources by utilizing stewardship practices on the farm. Although most customers won’t ask about conservation practices on the farm, developing relationships between producers and consumers is a way to educate the consumer about on-farm production practices. They have found local distilleries to be the main consumer of their non-GMO crop products and have seen similar yields between GMO and non-GMO varieties.
