You spend weeks crocheting for market prep, days creating the perfect display set up and hours packing everything up and setting it all up again at your market. Then it happens, your first customer, you’re so excited!
They pick up one of your beautifully crocheted pieces, ask how much it is, then respond negatively once you tell them.
It can be so discouraging. You can easily feel like you’re not good enough, your crochet is junk and you’ll never have a successful business. But I’m here to tell you, that couldn’t be FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!
There’s multiple reasons why she might be responding like that, and no it’s not because she doesn’t know the value of handmade things…
She reacted negatively to your prices because she is not your ideal customer. Your ideal customer will happily pay your prices!
Maybe this market isn’t the market for you, or maybe going to markets shouldn’t be your main business model. Either way, you should be selling your products to your ideal customer only, and you won’t have interactions like this any more!
