In this video we announce the exciting news that we're starting a berry farm and we look at the first area to be cultivated, our currant patch.
2024 marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter on the farm as we embark on the establishment of a small yet robust berry enterprise.
This spring, our farm is teeming with excitement as we get ready to plant over ten different varieties of soft fruit. From timeless classics like red and blackcurrants, strawberries, and raspberries, to some more unique options including Saskatoon, Aronia, and Honey Berry, our market garden is soon to be bursting with diversity.
The quarter acre garden, previously dedicated to our CSA veg box scheme (2015-2021), is being transformed into a thriving collection of berry patches full of luscious fruits.
These perennial shrubs, along with already established hedgerows of top fruit and nuts, will yield a bountiful harvest from June all the way through to November, gracing us with their produce for years to come.
It will be a couple of years before the berry bushes settle in and start yielding reliable harvests that we feel we can sell. Until then we will be tending to these varied berries, farming them with the best agro-ecological practices that we can provide and taste testing our way to being fruit farmers, whilst planning the best way we can get these juicy sweet fruits to our valued customers within our local community.

Hi, we're James and Rosa! Welcome to Tap o' Noth Farm, an 8 acre permaculture designed food forest farm/homestead in Aberdeenshire, NE Scotland. We practice home scale to small farm scale agroforestry and regenerative agriculture methods to produce organic fruit and vegetables, raise dairy goats for all our raw milk needs, geese to graze our silvopasture and coppice systems and laying hens, moved around in a Chickshaw, for an abundance of eggs.
