Mark Carney kicked off his leadership campaign for the federal Liberal party of Canada at his hometown hockey rink. Carney is a big Oilers fan, despite the irony that he wants Alberta to "keep it in the ground' in terms of oil and gas, due to his perspective on climate. Also ironically, it was a hockey stick graph that brought us to the situation we are in today - where the climate house of cards is collapsing - built on claims of abrupt and unusual warming caused by human industrial emissions of CO2. The Hockey Stick graph has been challenged by Steve McIntyre, a mining consultant who recognized this unusual shape from mining scams, so he and Prof. Ross McKitrick, an economist, began assessing the Hockey Stick graph...and 'broke it.' Hockey stick was also the shape of Enron's value, just before the company collapsed in a heap of ashes in 2001, and that's where the roots of international carbon markets go back to - Enron. In fact, energy analyst Anas Alhaji likes to say, on X, that 'carbon accounting is the Mother of all Enrons."
