Mario Mario--also known as Jumpman, Mr. Video, Big M., and The Great Gonzalez--has been nixed by his creator, Nintendo Co., Ltd. on March 31st, 2021. But is Super Mario really dead? Well, it looks like there's no 1-Up Mushroom to save him this time...as of this video (April 1st, 2021):
• Super Mario 3D All-Stars is not available to purchase digitally, and no more physical copies will be shipped to retailers
• Super Mario Bros. 35 has been pulled from the Switch eShop
• The Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch has ceased production
• Super Mario Maker (Wii U) has shut down its online services.
This is a tribute to the superstar--a montage of the near-death experiences he's had over his 35 + year history. Was it foreshadowing all this time?
