Wind Waker is the console follow-up to Majora’s Mask, so it’s expected that certain ideas will be shared between them, right? The thing is, these two games couldn’t look more different, so comparisons aren’t easily made. I love both titles--Majora has an ever-present somber and scary atmosphere, with WW acting as a playable cartoon. However contrasting they appear though, when I replayed the Wii U version I started realizing that it does genuinely feel like a successor.
Hyrule Encyclopedia further instilled this thinking- in the development notes, there’s a segment speaking about a programmer in charge of Majora’s Wrath, sent to work on Wind Waker because the weapon physics for that boss was impressive. How many more aspects of the N64 classic then, are carried over to the GameCube’s debut Zelda? This is a compilation of my fifteen findings after playing through the game again- and reading page after page of wikis for possible connections.
