Marion Aouad, economics assistant professor, specializes in health economics. Her work aims to understand and analyze factors – including price, individual and family circumstance, and federal and state policies - that influence consumers' decisions for health care consumption, and the consequences of those decisions. She also studies how health insurance reforms affect the supply and demand-side of health care markets.
Her work, funded by the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Aging has been published in the Journal of Health Economics.
Aouad earned her bachelor’s in economics at Princeton University and Ph.D. in economics at UC Berkeley. She spent a year as an assistant professor at the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, and then two years as a postdoctoral research fellow at Stanford University School of Medicine before joining the UCI faculty in fall 2020. She’s excited about the work being done by UCI’s economists and researchers, and she’s looking forward to being a part of the campus’s vibrant academic community.
