Hey folks! This timeI like to present a very lovely piece by the French 19th century romantic composer Marie Galos: ”La Baie des Anges“ (The bay of angles). In this music I picture myself in late 19th century Paris, sitting in a lovely Café surrounded by beautiful art, music literature, architecture and food. Though the title indicates that this music resembles a feeling of closeness to the sea, I feel it is deeply and typical French, perhaps even Parisian. I would classify this music not so much as concert repertoire rather like a high level amusement music.

Marie Cécile Galos, better known as Ms. C. Galos or Mrs. (Eodore) Galos, born Marie Cécile Larreguy on October 27, 1821 in Paris and Dead on 4 September 1903 in Bordeaux, is a French pianist and composer of the second half of the nineteenth century. She is sometimes called Galos or Galas Giselle.
Marie Cécile Larreguynote 1 is born in the former 2nd arrondissement of Paris in 1821 as a daughter of François Dominique Larreguy and Louise Cécile Guérin de Foncin, married in 1817. In 1839 she became wife with Angouleme Bernard Théodore Galos, merchant in wines, son of the hon. His father is prefect of the Charente.
The Galos spouses were established in Bordeaux where in 1841 their son Jacques then in 1845 their daughter Henriette Cécile Marie. Theodore Gallos dies in 1873 a month before the wedding of his daughter with Louis Roche, who takes the estate of the family wine property.
She composed her first pieces for piano in 1855, mainly nocturnes and waltzes.
She died in 1903 in Bordeaux.
Having published her works under several pseudonyms, the nature of her sex has been uncertain long. It is finally the discovery of one of the first publications of the famous "Lac de Côme (Lake Como) (Nocturne Op. 24) Signed "Miss Giselle Galos" which confirmed the identity of the composer.
