Marblehead Lighthouse on Lake Erie in Ohio is the oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes and one of its best known landmarks. Located within Marblehead Lighthouse State Park in Lakeside Marblehead, the lighthouse was built in 1822 out of native limestone and is 50 feet high. In 1958, the light, now a green LED that flashes every six seconds, was automated after the U.S. Coast Guard assumed responsibility. From Memorial Day to Labor Day between noon and 4pm, you can climb to the top, up its 77 steps and see nice views of Lake Erie, the massive amusement park Cedar Point and Kelleys Island. There is also a museum you can tour and check out a Fresnel lens, as well as the history of Marblehead Lighthouse, in the former house where the lighthouse keepers lived. There is also a lifesaving station too.
