Not to be confused with the similarly titled mod for Unreal Tournament, Rampancy was a project to recreate Bungie Software's Marathon trilogy on Valve's Goldsource engine. This version, dated January 2002, was the first and (AFAIK) only release of the mod, and the included ReadMe indicates work on Rampancy had already ended at that time. While unfinished and slightly buggy, it is playable.

Rampancy includes the full set of weapons from the Marathon trilogy plus those of Evil, a third party scenario based on Marathon Infinity, and a mixed bag of maps:

Facts and puzzling things about the mod:
- File creation dates show that some of these levels were last modified as much as a year and a half before the mod's release. Many seem to lack weapon or item spawns.
-The Marathon 2/Infinity weapon models are complete, excepting the Enforcer gun. The Marathon 1 and Evil weapons use either Marathon Infinity models or Half-Life defaults.
- The skull for Kill the Man with the Ball may spawn on certain maps even in deathmatch mode.
- Some of the ambient sound effects have glitchy triggers. In the video this is most noticeable on House of Pain and Mars Needs Women.
- The BOBs and Fighters in bobtest.bsp will respawn if the map is loaded in a multiplayer mode, but sometimes they spawn in the same space and cause clipping errors.
- Duality doesn't work if launched in a multiplayer mode, but sometimes it works if loaded from the console.
- I'm not sure what halls.bsp is based on. It uses a Marathon 1 texture set but it's not an M1 net map. Third party?
- The file names for House of Pain and King of Pain are mixed up: M2 HoP is pain.bsp, Moo HoP is king.bsp and KoP is luck.bsp (King of Pain was originally House of Luck).
- Lack of Vision fails to load, giving the message "Host_Error: no precache: *7"...
