Imagine spending a summer in the forest, tracking wolves and gathering samples with a pack of your friends. That's what hands on learning at U of I is all about.
A team of University of Idaho researchers spent the summer in Idaho’s backcountry tracking wild wolf pedigrees to better understand family relationships and support informed wildlife management decisions.
Through fieldwork that includes collecting scat and genetic data, the team maps wolf family trees to study population dynamics across the state and helps inform agencies like the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.
