Manitoba is rolling out a new health curriculum that will make in-person physical education mandatory for all students from kindergarten to Grade 12.

The new curriculum will roll out through a voluntary pilot program beginning this September and continue through the 2027-28 school year, before a full rollout in the 2028-29 year, Education Minister Tracy Schmidt said at a Thursday news conference at Victor Mager School in southeast Winnipeg.

"The message of this curriculum is that physical activity and healthy living are for everyone," Schmidt said.
