A tragic rescue attempt in the Mobile River ends with the death of 38-year-old Jonath Hunter. Witnesses say Hunter jumped into the river after a truck rolled into the water with his girlfriend, 35-year-old Ronda Burroughs, inside.
Burroughs survived after clinging to a passing tire and being rescued by emergency workers. Witnesses describe her exhaustion as she struggled to hold on while drifting down the river. Hunter was reportedly caught by an undertow and surfaced twice before disappearing beneath the water.
Family and friends were left in shock following the tragedy.
