The story of Richard Code came at a time when I was exploring the idea of winter camping. His story is the single most influential reason why I took my time learning how to camp overnight in below freezing conditions. I never want my family and friends to read the news that Police spotted his body from the air “huddled against some stunted black spruce near the edge of a frozen wetland, less than a kilometre from where he had started.” We can all learn something from his story and maybe save a life.
